在学校运动会上，1号、2号、3号、4号运动员取得了800m赛跑的前四名。小记者采访他们各自的名次。1号说：“3号在我们3人前面冲向终点。”另一个得第3名的运动员说：“1号不是第4名。”小裁判说：“他们的号码与他们的名次都不相同。”你知道他们的名次吗？

这是人教版六年级下册数学课本第95页的第7题，还是可以列表法解决这个问题，我们先来画一个五行五列的表格（行数和列数应分别比人数和名次数多1）：

	1号	2号	3号	4号
第一名	0		1
第二名	1
第三名	0			1
第四名	0	1

题中已经说出3号是第一名。1号不是第四名，也不是第一名（因为号码与名次各不相同），也不是第三名，所以1号是第二名。这样2号和4号的名次只能在第三名和第四名之间选择，因为号码与名次不相同，所以4号只能是第三名，而2号是第四名。问题得解。
