出处：秦·虞姬《和项羽垓下歌》

鉴赏：汉军已攻下所有的土地，将楚军完全包围起来，四面唱的全是楚国地方的歌声。楚汉相争，项羽垓下被围，乃作”垓下歌“。他的爱妾虞姬作此诗相应和。英雄末路，佳人相对，感慨万千。“四面楚歌”常用来形容一个人到处碰壁，走到哪里都不受欢迎。

此诗真伪尚存争议，《史记》、《汉书》都未见收载。唐张守节《史记正义》从《楚汉春秋》中加以引录，始流传至今。《楚汉春秋》为汉初陆贾所撰，至唐犹异。刘知风、司马贞、张守节都曾亲见，篇数与《汉书·艺文志》所载无异。本诗既从此书辑出，从材料来源上说，并无问题。
