数据是什么？什么是数据？在小学数学统计知识中经常提到数据。数据的定义：数据是从生产建设、科学实验、社会生活或其他活动中收集到的原始数字材料。

例如：

某地在一年中记录下来的每天的最高气温；

某班40名学生考试的得分清单；

这些都是数据。

数据是以一个一个的数字形式出现的，并且分布在一定的空间和时间的范围内。

在调查中会收集到什么样的数据是不由人的主观决定的，一组收集到的数据从表面上看来通常是杂乱无章的。

但实际上，在一定的范围内总是呈现出某种规律性，在统计学中，对这些规律性作了广泛的研究。数据的收集和整理是统计工作的基础。
