Halloween is upon us and 171 million Americans are getting in on the action. This holiday is expected to bring in more than $8.4 billion this year, growing $1.5 billion since 2015.
Social media is obviously a required strategy, especially for a holiday that relies so heavily on trends and inspiration. Brands need to concentrate on how to creatively get in front of their target audience. Pinterest is high up there on the list of inspiration sources for consumers. 27 million people pinned October 31st related content last year, amassing 273 million holiday related Pins.
Amongst that sea of Pinterest inspiration was the Hack-the-hoodie phenomenon, where people were showing basic hoodie sweatshirts that were transformed into costumes (either by cutting them up, gluing stuff to them, etc.) It’s a great example of how non-holiday-focused brands can get in on the action. You would be surprised on just how easy it is.
Our friends over at The Shelf put together this awesome infographic that is full of fun stats as well as ideas on how to make the most of this fun holiday.
It seems as if we are always willing to spend money on a great costume…
